Important Notes on Lodging

  • LIST ALL OCCUPANTS in each room when making reservations

  • If reserving over the phone, tell the staff you are with NW ACDA HONOR CHOIRS. If you fail to inform them that you are with the honor choirs, you will not receive a discounted rate, you will not be listed on the housing roster, and could be removed from the honor choir.

The designated chaperone must either (1) stay in the hotel room with the singer, or (2) follow the school, district, or organization policy regarding overnight trips. If your singer’s chaperone is not a school employee, school or district overnight trip policies may not apply.

TRAVEL

Please see these DRAFT honor choir schedules to start planning your travel arrangements. Each singer is REQUIRED to attend all honor choir activities, so make your travel plans accordingly. Singers are also required to be at Registration, where they will receive all their materials.

CHAPERONES

Parent chaperones are a vital part of the success of these honor choirs. Each student needs a chaperone, but one chaperone may serve more than one singer.

  • Chaperones are responsible for singers at all times, except when singers are in rehearsal.

  • Chaperones are not required to pay a fee.

  • Chaperones will not be granted access to any NW ACDA events without purchasing separate registration or concert tickets.

  • Chaperones will not receive breakfast provided at the College Fair.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: Can my singer stay in a different hotel or lodging accommodation besides the Historic Davenport Hotel or the Davenport Grand Hotel?

ANSWER: Unfortunately, no. Due to liability and hotel contracts, all honor choir participants must stay in either the Historic Davenport Hotel or the Davenport Grand Hotel.

QUESTION: My singer lives in or very close to Spokane. Is it possible for them to stay at home for the nights of the conference instead of paying for one of the conference hotel rooms?

ANSWER: Unfortunately, no. Due to liability and hotel contracts, all honor choir participants must stay in either the Historic Davenport Hotel or the Davenport Grand Hotel.

QUESTION: My singer participated in one of the 2020 NW ACDA Honor Choirs. Do they still have to pay the registration fee?

ANSWER: Yes. Although the 2020 honor choir experience was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 honor choir participants must pay the registration fee. The reason that Northwestern ACDA cannot afford to cover the registration fees of the students who participated in 2020 is because we still have to pay all the same costs in 2020 that we have to again in 2022: sheet music, conductors, souvenirs, lodging and travel for staff, accompanists, and guest instrumentalists. With a new conference comes new music, new t-shirts, new accompanists, new conductors, new instrumentalists, etc. Because of these new costs, and because we waived all audition fees this year, we are unable to cover registration fees for 2020 participants.

QUESTION: What if my singer chooses not to participate in the honor choir?

ANSWER: Please fill out the additional form on your Submittable account and state that your singer will NOT participate.
