Session Description

Intermezzo, part of Seattle Children’s Chorus, is a non-auditioned treble choir for singers in 4th to 7th Grades. Choristers rehearse once each week, performing in three main series concerts each year. The Seattle Children’s Chorus, founded by Kris Mason 38 years ago, nurtures excellence in young musicians through performance of the finest choral music. Clinician Bio

Jean-Marie Kent is the Artistic Director of the Seattle Children’s Chorus, conducting Arioso and Intermezzo. She also serves as the Director of Choirs at Holy Names Academy. Previously, she taught Choir and Vocal Jazz at Roosevelt High School and directed the Magnolia Chorale, a community choir. Before moving to Seattle, Jean-Marie taught music on Vancouver Island and in New York City, where she developed public school music programs for gifted children. She earned her Master of Music in Conducting at McGill University in Montreal and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Regina. Jean-Marie has conducted orchestras and choirs, including the University of Regina Chamber Singers, the UW Women's Choir, Nanaimo Symphony Orchestra, and the Victoria Civic Orchestra. Jean-Marie spends her free time traveling with friends and family.
