Choral conductors teaching at the middle school/junior high level are a great gift in our NW community, fostering community, vocal care for changing voices, and providing important avenues for musical expression among adolescents. We are grateful for all our middle school/junior high choral teachers!
This week's "NW Affirmation" comes from NW ACDA Repertoire-Specific Coordinator and Jazz Repertoire & Resources Chair, Jeff Horenstein, celebrating Kyra Rengstorf, choir teacher at Meadowdale Middle School in Lynnwood, Washington.
Jeff writes:
"In these challenging times, we know that choir often is the bright spot that keeps students engaged with school. Kyra has provided her students with a safe space where they feel seen, valued, and continue to grow as musicians. Kudos to her and all of the other NW middle school choral teachers that are working tirelessly to provide these important experiences for our young singers."
