RSS Middle School & Junior High: Music for Community Building
Kim Claassen will present a resource of "tried and true" literature with a focus on community and experience. This session is intended to not only provide great literature ideas recommended by our fantastic colleagues in the NW region, but to also provide ideas of how you might use this music to build community and provide unique experiences for your ensemble.
Kim Claassen is in her eighth-year teaching and her sixth year as director of choirs at Cascade Middle School in Vancouver, WA. She earned her B.A. and M.M. in Music Education from Central Washington University. Choirs under her direction have performed at WMEA and ACDA state and regional conferences. She also serves as the Treasurer for the Lower Columbia River Music Educators Association. In her classroom, Kim strives for a balance between seeking musical excellence while honoring and celebrating the unique needs, abilities, and backgrounds of all of her students.
