Overview
The Minister of Music & Worship (Full-time, 1.0 FTE) is responsible to Jesus Christ and the Church through the pastors, the congregation and Trinity Lutheran Church and Schools (TLCS) leadership. This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
Purpose
Develop, direct, and coordinate the music & worship ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church & Schools.
Summary

Anticipates, builds, and adapts the worship and music ministry to changing conditions in the congregation, local, and global communities
Utilizes technology in innovative ways to enhance the worship experience
Seeks ways to encourage and support worshippers in building up the body of Christ outside the walls of the church
Works with pastoral staff in developing partnerships and relationships with the community at large

Plans and utilizes many forms of worship and styles of music
Identifies, develops, and coordinates diverse leaders in music and worship ministry
Seeks to develop music and worship opportunities and experiences which are relevant and accessible to all

Works with pastoral team to align music, plan worship, and cultivate leadership that creates space for building, belonging and becoming
Fosters and creates educational opportunities for the congregation – liturgy, church music history, etc.
Fosters and encourages growth in making worship relevant, contemplative, and transformational
E. Multi-Generational ministry relevant to all ages and promoting relationships across generations
Works with young worshippers and youth to develop and integrate their gifts in worship
Develops and fosters mentoring relationships across generations
Duties & Responsibilities
Work closely with the pastors to develop, plan, and implement worship services
Work with Communication Coordinator in production of worship bulletins and other materials
Record instrumental or vocal to an accompaniment track, or unaccompanied solo
Play organ and/or piano for worship services, producing quality recordings and/or playing live, or recruiting appropriate substitutes
Attend weekly staff meetings, Council, and other committee meetings as appropriate or assigned
Develop and maintain Trinity’s music library
Develop system for using, securing, and maintaining Trinity’s musical instruments and accessories
Seek intentional engagement with the greater arts community, and ensure events and concerts relate to the values of Trinity expressed through the music and worship ministry
Collaborate with Administrator to arrange for hosts and other needs for groups utilizing Trinity’s sanctuary/concert space
Supervise publicity for the music and worship ministry
Oversee scheduling, recruitment, and training (in collaboration with pastors and lay leaders) worship assistants as needed.
Seek out additional resources (videos, music, alternative media, etc.) that can be used to augment and enrich worship.
Skills & Qualifications
Skill and competency at the organ and keyboard/piano, with a working knowledge of other instruments
Ability to lead congregational singing in all styles
Technical ability to produce quality recordings and direct and guide recruits in recording
Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability, as worship environment changes and evolves
Willingness and capacity to be creative about how we use Lutheran hymnody and liturgy, other traditions, and new resources in a way that is relevant and meaningful today and in our context.
Preference for demonstrated and significant experience working in a church setting
Preference for choral and instrumental conducting experience
Preference for post-secondary degree in music or church music
