Nicole Lamartine elected as President-Elect-Designate for NW Division, ACDA

Nicole Lamartine is the Northwestern Division’s President-Elect-Designate.  She prevailed in an election that included a strong second candidate in Paul Aitken, of Boise, Idaho.

In winning the Presidency, Nicole will be following this timetable:  On July 1, 2014, she becomes President-Elect.  She will assume the office of NWACDA President two years later, in July of 2016. There is much growth and learning that takes place between now and then, but as you’ll see below – she is more than equal to the task:

About Nicole Lamartine
Dr. Lamartine is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wyoming. Under Nicole’s leadership, choirs of the University of Wyoming have performed at the 2012 Northwest ACDA conference, the 2011 Northwest MENC conference in Bellevue, WA and at the 2011 National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) national conference.

Her choirs at the University of Wyoming have enjoyed premiere performances and recordings of music by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer Jennifer Higdon, Forrest Pierce, John Muehleisen, and Craig Hella Johnson.

Nicole has presented her research at national and regional conferences of ACDA, NCCO, CMS, NATS, and NAfME. She is in demand as a conductor and clinician across the US and Europe and will appear as the NW ACDA Men’s Honor Choir conductor at the 2014 conference.

As a professional vocal musician, Nicole has sung as a regular member of the Grammy®-nominated Conspirare, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the Colorado Bach Ensemble, and Chor Anno.  While living in England she sang with the choruses of the London BBC and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras, performing across Europe and the UK.  She can be heard on six choral CDs on labels including Harmonia Mundi and Chandos.

Nicole has served as Wyoming ACDA President, as chair of the 2011 National ACDA Women’s Choir and as co-chair of the 2009 National ACDA Collegiate Chamber Choir.  She is currently the 2014 conference Interest Session Chair and International Conductor Exchange Program liaison for NW ACDA.  She will represresponseent the US as the NW ACDA delegate to China this summer.

President Gary Weidenaar offers his congratulations to Nicole Lamartine
The results are in from the election for the next President-Elect of the Northwestern Division. I am pleased to announce that Nicole Lamartine, from Laramie, Wyoming and The University of Wyoming has been chosen.
Nicole has the ability to relate to people of all ages and levels.  Dr. Lamartine proved beyond a doubt that she was a fine conductor and musician, when she wowed the 2012 conference with the performance by her men’s choir, The Singing Statesmen.

I have grown to know Nicole through her role on the NWACDA board.  She has proven herself organized, personable, full-of-energy, and good with details.  She is constantly curious, seeking to grow in both knowledge and skill.

As important, she is a leader.  When I entered the Singing Statesmen’s bus in the early morning following their impressive NWACDA appearance, the respect and care for her as a director was easy to observe by all of the 70 guys in the group.  There was no complaining  about the impending 20 hour drive.  On the contrary, she received boisterous applause when I thanked her.

I have all confidence that the traits Nicole Lamartine possesses will translate into nothing but good things for the division.

President-Elect, Patrick Ryan, had this to say
Both Paul Aiken and Nicole Lamartine are superb leaders and master conductors.  Regardless of election results, I knew that NWACDA would be under the leadership of a progressive, warm, and inspiring leader.

NWACDA is fortunate to have such talented people who are willing to serve our organization with their time and talent!  My congratulations to Nicole and thanks to Paul.
